A Bit Sketchy

December 2, 2009

So Bob the Yeti is making a comeback in the comic. I guess it can’t really be a comeback if he left for like 3 strips. He was just so fun to draw, I had to write more story for him. He is great fun and since he is so big, I finally get a monster fighting with the protaginsts. He is a great guy.

I am now talking about a fictional charater like he exists, him being a Yeti makes it even better.

A Christmas Gift

November 30, 2009

I have decided what I want for Christmas.

I would like a chin.

Right now it’s neck then face, no chin, no jaw line.

So that is what I want from Santa, a jaw line

Under the weather

November 24, 2009

I woke up with a little bit of a sore throat and runny nose today. I usally have a stuffy head in the morning so I wasn’t too worried, until I went to the grocery store.

I bought funyuns.

Funyuns mean I am getting sick. When I crave Funyuns, a good old-fashion cold is coming on, because let’s face facts, you have to be either sick or stoned to want Funyuns.

I woke up this morning with the Creepy Crawlers theme song stuck in my head.

For those who don’t know the tune here’s a link

I have no idea what that means.

I overheard an attractive New York Jew talking to a valet today. She was looking for someplace to excercise. She asked which way to walk when leaving the hotel, right or left, if it was a safe section of town, landmarks to look for and all that stuff. She then asked where the closest park was.

The name of our hotel is Mansion on Forsyth Park.

She was on our front drive.

Facing the park.

And people wonder why I’m misanthropic.

Actual Conversation

October 21, 2009

Kaylon: Do I want beer or wine when I get out of here?

Terrance: Beer because it rhymes, I’m getting beer when I get out of here.

Kaylon: Ah, yes I should make all my decisions based on rhyme scheme.

So I implemented rhyme scheme as my new decision-making engine, but I am not a gifted rhymer. I have not been able to make a single decision for 3 days. I was going to give up, but I couldn’t think of a good couplet so here I sit, indecisive as ever.

Last Listen Jay Reatard – Blood Vision. Good old school straightforward punk. All the songs are in the 1:30- 2:00 minute range. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, then on to the next nugget of angst and frustration. It makes me smile.

Good Times

October 21, 2009

Any news that involves a German and a grievous bodily harm, is always worth a quick read.

My sister has started a blog. For those of you who do not know my sister, her name is Kenda and she runs a barn. She has 87 horses, 103 cats, 47 dogs, 2 goats she’s trying to knock up and a pig. She is both the messiest person I know and the most terrified of germs. Needless to say hilarity follows her like her favorite dog Bennie. Give it a try.

So I have decided to make A.B.S a color affair. Well except the actual people, they will remain black and white. I will also be bringing back the two storyline setup and some old favorites, such as Arnold and Vince, so be on the lookout. The upcoming storylines are looking really solid in the plotting stage, if i could only draw. . .

Oh, I have decided to turn this page into a regular blog, a lot of thoughts on the comic that I want to get out, links to stories and blogs I like, a sports thought here and there and a world changing idea occasionally. I am deprived of bull sessions out here, therefore the random sparks of misanthropic hilarity dont happen as often as I would like.

So we shall see how this develops.

I don’t wanna

October 11, 2009

I don’t wanna read…the words seem like straw
I don’t wanna listen to music…all the bands bore me.
I don’t wanna watch TV…not without Earl.
I don’t wanna watch football…my teams suck.
I don’t wanna bake…pies make me fat.
I just don’t wanna.

But I’m so bored…maybe I’ll try Heroin.

Ah- ha, so this is how it starts.

Football

August 31, 2009

I was arguing with my buddy Ross (you can’t talk to Ross, only argue) about football and I found myself defending the ACC as a conference, saying while it doesn’t seem to have as many elite team, all the teams are a legitimate threat to beat any one else in conference. I then said “I think it is the second strongest conference top to bottom, after the SEC. Ross was not impressed. He thought my living in Georgia had made me a huge ACC fanboy. It has not. Living in Texas has made me hate the Big 12. I don’t think they are that good. People talked about how high scoring they were and how they are offensive juggernauts, all true but that also means they play no defense out there. That is how you get Sam Bradford winning a Heisman. Sam Bradford is Danny Wuerffel without the fade.

Now let’s look at some numbers. Good old-fashioned empirical evidence.

Conference Median Rank Top 25 Teams
SEC 35 5
ACC 45 4
BIG 12 46 4
BIG 10 46 3
PAC 10 47 3
Big East 52 1

So the SEC is clearly the strongest in this group and having watched them for the better part of two decades, I agree. Now just looking at the raw numbers you see the ACC is the second best conference on average, but there is a problem, they don’t have a marquee program since FSU and Miami fell off. FSU will be stronger this year along with Miami. UNC will be this year Ole Miss, a very talented team that is a year away. Then you have the middling teams of the pack in Wake, Maryland, NC State and Clemson, but they are all better than Texas A&M, K State, Missouri (sans Daniels), Colorado.
So that takes us to the top of the ACC. Va Tech lost it’s running back with an ACL injury, so might be a bit over rated. They could beat Alabama this week and cause me to eat my words, but I doubt it. I think Ga Tech is a darkhorse national championship contender. I think they run the table along with Texas and Florida. I think the perception that the ACC is weak keeps them out of the championship while voters’ sympathy for screwing Texas last year gets them in the Championship game Bowl, while Tech gets to crush some shitty Big East team in the Orance.

Here is a head to heas match up from the bottom up, underlined team being victorious.
Duke vs Iowa St
UVA vs. Baylor
Wake vs. Texas A&M
Maryland vs. K State
BC vs Missouri
NC State vs Colorado
Clemson vs Kansas
Miami vs Texas Tech
North Carolina vs Nebraska
FSU vs. OK State
Va Tech vs Oklahoma
Ga Tech vs Texas

I think every ACC team beat the Big 12 team beneath them, yeah that means Ga Tech over Oklahoma. I can only say that about Texas and Kansas in the Big 12. I left out the Pac 10 who I also think is now better than the Big 12. Cal, Oregon, USC, and Oreogon are all tough tough teams. I think any of them would win the SEC west. Yes they would all four beat Alabama and Ole Miss.

So let the arguments begin!
